Perched on a hillside in one of Cape Town’s leafy suburbs, this boutique retreat boasts intelligent, warm service and commanding views of Table Mountain and beyond.
Kensington Place is exactly how we think a boutique hotel should be. Set just outside Cape Town, in Higgovale, overlooking the city from the foothills of Table Mountain, it's as intimate as they come - just seven suites and one standard room, all magazine-shoot ready with sprawling king beds and custom-made bathtubs. The top floor rooms enjoy the best views but all have a balcony or terrace. It's owner-managed too, which adds to the intimacy and personal service. Owners Chris and Gillian will gladly share local knowledge, arrange guides and drivers and suggest and book restaurants, though the hotel itself serves an excellent breakfast and offers seasonal menus for lunch and dinner.
There's a courtyard garden and a small but inviting pool. Should you wish to be more active, guests are provided with complimentary vouchers for the nearby Virgin Active gym. Although you could just hike up Table Mountain instead.
Kensington Place is located on the lower slopes of Table Mountain in the leafy suburb of Higgovale. Cape Town International Airport is located approximately 25 minutes by road from the hotel.
