Authentic and luxurious tented bush camp in a private concession within Hwange National Park, which is famous for its large herds of elephants.
Somalisa Camp is set beneath a grove of acacia trees on the edge of a seasonal floodplain, looking out over extensive savannah grasslands. The stylish camp was built to blend into the natural environment and prides itself on its exceptionally high standards of guiding. Its seven tastefully furnished sailcloth tents feature king-size beds, wood-burning fireplaces, private decks on which to soak up the views, and indoor/outdoor bathrooms with romantic copper bathtubs. The main area is comprised of several open-sided Bedouin-style tents on split-level decks that cover the lounge and dining area. The swimming pool and shared main areas boast the best view of the waterhole, which attracts large herds of elephants, sometimes hundreds at a time during the dry months of September and October. Activities include walking safaris, game drives, birding and cultural visits.
The camp is situated in a private concession right in the heart of Hwange National Park. There are daily scheduled charter flights from Victoria Falls Airport to Manga Airstrip in Hwange National Park. From the airstrip the camp is a 30-minute game drive away. The camp can also be accessed by road and is a four-hour drive from Victoria Falls. Private charter flights can also be arranged.
