An intimate and rustic camp offering total immersion within the wilderness, with just three treehouse towers completely open to the African night sky.
This is no ordinary camp. Set deep in the Khwai Private Reserve, which borders Moremi Game Reserve in the northern stretches of the Okavango Delta, accommodation comprises only three 'rooms'. But each 'room' is really just a treehouse-style tower, each three storeys high and open to the elements, but spaced well apart for total privacy from your neighbours. The top floor has just a bed, sofa, table and lamps, with thick duvets, blankets and hot water bottles provided. Below you is the only permanent water source in an area covering 2,000 hectares, frequently visited by elephant, lion, leopard, eland, zebra and more, making for some pretty outstanding game viewing. Above you is nothing but a ceiling full of stars. The floor below has a shower room with canvas walls affording total privacy, hot running water, a basin and a flush loo, along with plenty of room for storing bags and changing. A gate on the ground floor at the bottom of the steps keeps inquisitive beasts away.
A fourth tower acts as a communal area, with a spectacular sundowner bar on the open top floor. Meals are cooked on a campfire and are seasonal and tasty.
Please note that Skybeds can only be booked in combination with a stay at other Natural Selection camps and only operate from April to October.
Skybeds is located in a private concession in the Khwai Private Reserve. Access is via a scheduled flight from Johannesburg or Cape Town to Maun or from Johannesburg to Kasane, followed by a light aircraft flight to Skybeds in Khwai Private Reserve.
