The only lodge in over 200,000 acres of unspoiled wilderness, in tribal, wildlife-rich lands to the north of Samburu National Reserve.
The lodge’s unique eco-design is both innovative and captivating. Its bold architecture has been built into and around a giant volcanic rock face, with an elevated position that affords unbelievable views over the semi-arid plains towards Mount Kenya. Six exclusive open-fronted villas offer one or two bedrooms, plus a spacious lounge area and large scenic veranda, perfect for absorbing those mesmerising views. Spectacular bathrooms have indoor and outdoor showers. The camp offers a variety of exciting, relaxing and unusual activities, including game drives and night drives, guided bush walks and visits to the local caves or village. Or guests can simply opt to lounge by the infinity pool or indulge in a massage at the Samburu Wellbeing Space.
The spirit of adventure extends to mealtimes too, with picnic breakfasts by the Ewaso Niro River readily available, or bush dinners served in a dry riverbed, accompanied by Samburu dancers and followed by drinks and stargazing.
Saruni Samburu is located in tribal lands to the north of Samburu National Reserve. Overlooking a vast private wildlife sanctuary called Kalama Conservancy, the lodge has exclusive access to the surrounding 200,000 acres of pristine, protected wilderness. There are scheduled flights from Nairobi Wilson Airport to Buffalo Springs Airstrip, from where it is a one-hour game drive to the lodge. It is also possible to chatter a flight into Kalama Airstrip, which is 30 minutes' drive from the lodge. The lodge can also be reached by road in approximately six hours from Nairobi.
