A luxurious yet unassuming camp where half the fun is getting there - a boat ride across the Mara River followed by a guided trek through a riverine forest into camp.
Undisturbed by vehicles, Little Governors' Camp offers a peaceful retreat where guests can feel at one with nature, surrounded by forests and looking out across a marsh that teems with elephants, birds and other wildlife. The camp's 17 tents are charming and comfortable, their polished wooden decks providing tranquil spots from which to watch the wildlife. Enjoy breakfast and lunch in the open-air with the resident family of warthogs wandering by, and delicious evening meals in the dining tent, followed by drinks in the mess tent or around the fire pit, or for something extra special, opt for the unique experience of a bush meal. Make the most of three game drives a day, departing at sunrise, late morning and then again in the afternoon. Full and half-day game drives are also available, with picnic lunches provided. Other activities include hot-air ballooning, walking safaris and visits to a Maasai manyatta to see a tribal way of life that has remained unchanged for centuries.
Little Governors' Camp is located in the Mara Triangle area of the Masai Mara National Reserve. There are daily scheduled flights from Nairobi-Wilson Airport to the Musiara Airstrip. The flight takes approximately 45 minutes. The camp is located 10 minutes from the airstrip but to reach it you need to take a short boat ride across the Mara River, then an escorted walk through the riverine forest. Private charters can also be arranged. The camp can also be accessed by road from Nairobi, which takes approximately 5-6 hours.
