Lying on the edge of an enormous pan, Kalahari Plains Camp is an eco-friendly camp offering excellent game viewing through the green summer months of December to March.
The Central Kalahari Game Reserve is the largest conservation area in Botswana - larger than Belgium - and is famed for its vast herds of antelope, black-maned Kalahari lions and as the home of the San Bushmen.Kalahari Plains Camp sits on the edge of a vast pan in the north-east corner of the reserve, offering fantastic views and great game viewing in summer. Its eight canvas units are each built on raised platforms and are spacious and comfortable, with en-suite bathrooms and rooftop terraces for sleeping out beneath the stars.
Shared areas include a comfortable lounge and dining area, swimming pool and viewing deck, while activities range from morning and afternoon game drives to full-day explorations of the vast Kalahari, interpretive walks with the San Bushmen, birdwatching and stargazing.
Kalahari Plains Camp is located in the north-eastern sector of the remote Central Kalahari Game Reserve in Botswana. Access is via a scheduled flight from Johannesburg or Cape Town to Maun, or from Johannesburg to Kasane, followed by a light aircraft flight to the Kalahari Plains airstrip. The camp is approximately a 35-minute game drive from the airstrip.
