Luxurious solar-powered eco-lodge with breathtaking views of Africa's highest mountain.
Located in a private conservancy bordering Amboseli National Park, Elewana Tortilis Camp enjoys dramatic views of the world’s highest free-standing mountain, majestic Mount Kilimanjaro. The camp is nestled under a thicket of umbrella-shaped thorn trees (Acacia Tortilis), from which it gets its name, and is entirely solar powered. The camp is home to 16 makuti-covered tents, each with a main bedroom, en-suite bathroom and a spacious veranda with glorious views of snow-capped Kilimanjaro. The Family Tent benefits from a second bedroom while the Private House comprises two bedrooms, a generous living area, veranda and swimming pool, which it shares with the Family Tent. A communal lounge, bar and dining area provide spaces to unwind and socialise with other guests, and there's a refreshing pool to cool off in between excursions.
Game drives offer wonderful opportunities to photograph some of the largest populations of elephants in Africa. Walking safaris are also a great way to see the park, following tracks and taking in its sights, sounds and smells up close. Guests can also visit local Maasai homesteads and enjoy bountiful bush breakfasts.
Elewana Tortilis Camp is located in its own private conservancy, the Kitirua Private Conservancy on the western boundary of Amboseli National Park. There are daily scheduled flights from Nairobi Wilson to Amboseli Airstrip, a 45-minute drive from camp. Charter flights can also be arranged.
