Rustically designed to complement the surrounding environment, the Star Beds are poised on a rocky kopje, looking out over an undulating valley and a permanent waterhole regularly visited by wildlife.
This is no ordinary night's sleep. Handcrafted four-poster beds made of polished tree branches sit on raised wooden platforms and are rolled out each night for guests to sleep under the African night sky, tucked beneath a plump feather duvet. There are three Star Bed platforms. Each comprises a thatched-roof area with a wardrobe, seating area and safe. A large balcony extends out and the Star Bed can either sit under the thatched roof or be wheeled out to rest beneath the starry night sky. Each room has been designed around the natural features of the hill and includes a bathroom with a solar-heated shower, flush toilet and stunning view. There's also a family room with two double beds pushed out onto two separate platforms.
Guests can partake in a myriad activities, including walking with traditional Samburu guides, camel safaris, horse riding, mountain biking, fishing and, of course, day and night game drives. Conclude each day with drinks by the log fire in the Star Beds lounge, where you can trade tales of the African bush over a delicious communal dinner.
Loisaba Star Beds are poised on a rocky kopje in the Loisaba Conservancy on the Laikipia Plateau. There are daily scheduled flights from Nairobi Wilson Airport to the Loisaba Airstrip and the camp is a 15-minute drive from the airstrip. There are also flights to Nanyuki Airport, which is a three-hour drive away. Private charters can be arranged.
